Service Description

~ Clay is a metaphor for the fluidity of the self ~ 'Clay both records the imprint of the body and is molded by the body. Therefore, its paradox lies in the fact that it is both an extension of the self and an entity apart from itself. ' In this Life Sculpting event, Artist Hilary Green will guide you to consider ways to express the human form in clay. Honey Positano, our divine life model will pose for two long poses, giving time for us to relax into studying form and expressing body language with earth. This ticket includes firing and glazing of one final piece. Your sculpture can be glazed with a pearl or shino white glaze. You will have the option of paying extra for a second piece to be fired on the day. Hilary will also be able to show you how to include a candle hole if you desire to add function to your sculpture. As we sculpt, we may even have a lovely discussion about how to see each body as beautiful and how to represent a figure in clay that has a soul. This is a lovely relaxed class and I hope to welcome you at Shell Space soon. All materials, firing of one piece and delicious chai provided. There ar 12 table seats and 8 floor seats with plinth. Please arrive early to get the seat you need or let Hilary know your access needs in the booking form or via email. Pieces will be fired after class and will be ready to pick up at Shell Space within 3 weeks. You may have the option of paying for firing on the night if you change your mind or choose to fire a second piece for $50.
