Hello! I have designed these tutorials to share with you what I love about hand building large pieces and what I always enjoy learning and reflecting on along the way.

Each vessel is a journey and you might discover something about yourself as you sculpt.

Sculpting a large coil vessel is an ancient art form that has been past down for thousands of years.

Vessels have been used to embellish values, stories, history and emotion.

They have been used for rituals, as functional daily objects and as sacred gifts. They are beautiful and sacred to human needs.

In this course you will be presented with:

• Set up, materials and safety.

• Questions to help guide you on what you may not have considered before in regards to design and your own process.

• Why 'Vessel' not 'Vase' meaning and symbology.. how to consider your art.

• A full practical demonstration by myself, Hilary Green in how to achieve a base shape

• A series of practical demonstrations on how to achieve different decorative features

• A 'breaking the rules' strategy for handles

• Problem solving techniques and tips for managing cracks or imbalance

• Inventing techniques and mark making inspiration

• Basic Glaze and firing advice.
